チャイコフスキーの歌劇「エフゲニー・オネーギン」。

オネーギンの劇中最後の台詞「惨めなり、わが運命よ！（О жалкий, жребий мой!）」に象徴されるように、彼の人生は惨めといえるかもしれない。

しかし、それは全て彼自身の選択によってもたらされた結果。

決闘で親友を死に至らしめた自責の念から放浪し、身を焦がすような想いを抱く相手を見つけたものの、彼女はかつて自分が振った現・公爵夫人。

かみ合わない運命を嘆く彼と、物語のその先にも人生は続いていくことへの希望を込めて描いた作品。

“Eugene Onegin” is the opera composed by Tchaikovsky.

This is the most frequently performed opera among his total ten master pieces.

Onegin's last line of the play, "Wretched is my fate! (О жалкий, жребий мой!)," Onegin's life may be described as miserable.

But it is all the result of his own choices.

Wandering from remorse over the death of his best friend in a duel, he finds the love of his life, but she is the current Duchess, whom he once dumped.

This work depicts his lament over his ill-fated destiny and his hope that life will continue beyond the story.
