Artist information
Arashi Tanaka
Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 2000. Currently based in Tokyo.
2022
Completed a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Department of Environmental Design, Tama Art University.
2024
Completed an Associate Master’s program in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London.
A mixed-media artist whose work explores the fragility of time and memory through crystal-based media. After graduating from the Department of Environmental Design (Architecture major) at Tama Art University in 2022, the artist studied Fine Art at the University of the Arts London in the United Kingdom. In 2024, the artist became the first Japanese recipient of a UK foundation award at the RA Summer Exhibition, the world’s oldest open-call exhibition organized by one of the most prestigious institutions in the British art world. Currently based in Japan, the artist is active internationally, including in Spain, Germany, and China.

Haute Moments Gallery vol.1
The Chain Museum is pleased to announce that we oversee the planning and curation of “Haute Moments Gallery,” a new art space within the Mountain Center and NEST813 facilities at NISEKO TOKYU Grand HIRAFU, a world-class ski resort in Hokkaido operated by Tokyu Fudosan Holdings Corporation.
The gallery will host annual exhibitions based on unique curatorial concepts. The inaugural exhibition, titled “Haute Moments Gallery vol. 1,” is set to launch on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
This exhibition features a group presentation by 12 artists whose works resonate with the gallery’s concept.
The show includes both new and past works, all of which will be available for purchase exclusively through the art communication platform “ArtSticker.”

Arashi Tanaka is a mixed media artist whose work explores the themes of the fragility of time and memory through the use of crystals as a medium. After graduating from Tama Art University in 2022 with a degree in Environmental Design, specializing in architecture, he continued his studies in Fine Art at the University of the Arts London. In 2024, he became the first Japanese artist to receive the British Institution Fund Award at the prestigious RA Summer Exhibition, the world’s oldest open submission exhibition, organized by the Royal Academy of Arts. Currently based in Japan, Tanaka is expanding his international practice, with exhibitions in Spain, Germany, China, and beyond.
