Work Details

It is an attempt to explore the boundary between human vitality and artificial inorganic quality, based on the theme of the contrasting textures of raw meat and metal.

While giving an industrial and industrial impression, the drain fittings evoke the image of liquid being discharged from the inside to the outside.

This drainage motif functions as an element that questions what “outside” indicates and what “unnecessary things” symbolize by drainage.

This work asks the question “what is a human being” in a modern society surrounded by rapidly evolving technology and man-made objects.

As the development of AI, virtual reality, cultured meat, and organ transplantation technology progresses, it is a feeling that the body and consciousness, which should have been unique, are gradually being replaced by artificial objects. If everything other than one's consciousness were turned into an artificial object, would it still be possible to say “myself”?

This vague question is superimposed on the “pupa (pupa)” state where larvae liquefy once in the process of transforming into adults.

Even if the pupa is cut open, what is there is neither a larva nor an adult insect, but a liquid in between. With the theme of this “ambiguous existence,”

Using motifs such as raw meat, metal, and metal fittings for drainage ditches, we have embodied the inseparable state of how far it is a human being, how far is a machine, how far it is “me,” and how far is a “tool.”

Since 2023, based in Kyoto, I have been producing and exhibiting three-dimensional works.
Without being bound to specific materials, I focus on giving form to imagined images.
I continue to explore a broad range of methods and mediums, working from the position of a mediator—someone who brings internal images into material existence—while questioning whether the "pain," "friction," or "distortion" that arises in the process of realizing these images might be essential conditions for the work to retain its own autonomy.
