Work Details

Concept and Intention of the Artwork

The paintings, created using painting materials mixed with soil from the Shirakami Mountains, have a deeper meaning beyond mere landscape depiction. The Shirakami Sanchi is a precious natural heritage site with pristine virgin forests, where many histories and stories we do not yet know lie dormant. By incorporating this soil into his painting materials, his paintings connect directly with nature and become an entity that contains the pulse of life.

The rustling of trees, the flow of water, and the breathing of plants and animals can be felt in his paintings, which appeal to the viewer with the raw power of nature. It is not just beauty, but also conveys the harshness and preciousness of nature and the weight of time. Through this experience, we are made to rethink the relationship between nature and human beings. We become aware that nature exists prior to human activity and that we live together as a part of it.

What You Want to Express Through the artwork

This painting is art that attempts a dialogue with nature through materials and sensibilities rooted in the Shirakami Mountains. By visualizing invisible memories and the power of life in the present, the work poses a question to us about the future of living in harmony with nature.
