This piece depicts the moment when a luxurious marble space, inspired by an ancient Roman palace, intersects with layers of shadows that suggest a Japanese bamboo forest. While the Roman palace appears to be covered in real marble, most of it was actually hand painted, where real marble was a rarity. This illusion of grandeur symbolizes human greed. The work also explores how encountering different cultures helps reconnect with one’s roots, reflecting an evolving identity and a hopeful vision for the future.
