作品詳情
The “Layers of Color” series, which began in 2015, is freed from the structure of figurative motifs, and pursues paintings that are pure visual phenomena.
This is the 3rd work since the beginning of 2017, and the 29th in total in the series.
The basic method for this series is to determine a screen (including orientation) that seems to be complete by laminating and grinding acrylic paint from a place where there is no clear theme, message, motif, or plan.
This work uses abstract watercolor Esquisse drawn in the same year as a motivational source at the beginning of production.

However, Esquisse is not assigned to draw exactly like that.
It acts like a “launch booster” that unleashes Mathière in a fixed direction.
The work details of “how to paint” and “how to scrape” are proceeded while judging each process.
My motivation for creating this series was that I thought it would be a good way to pursue “things that can only be done with paintings” in my own way.
A scene that can only exist with paint on a support. Paintings as physical crystals.
It can be said that it is a product of my desire to see such works.
The canvas is prepared with careful ground coating on both the front and back, and then placed on a temporary board.
Apply 20 or more layers of paint on the screen side, including parts and solids.
Then, the screen is made by grinding with water-resistant sandpaper while pouring water on it.
It is made on a temporary board, and after completion, it is cleaned and dried, then placed on a wooden frame to complete.
Since the screen has been scraped out, it is smooth, and can also be wiped clean with a dish towel.
To make the most of “multi-layered magic,” one of the characteristics of painting.
From the time I set out to create, I found a method in line with my desires in 1999.
Since then, I have been pursuing the possibilities of painting with a consistent technique called “acrylic paint lamination and grinding.”

Painting as a phenomenon.
We are exploring the possibilities of painting using a method of generating a screen by laminating and grinding acrylic paint.
There are variations in screen styles, from those with objects to those without objects, and all works have common colors and mattieres.
