Are “kawaii” and “girl culture” resistant by women to images of good wives and wise mothers, or is it a system that strengthens faith in youth and virginity? The “Lovely ♡ Mami-chan” series is a project-type work that has continued to be produced from 2017 to the present, as a result of these questions. Until now, the distortion of the “ideal female image” sought by society has been presented through various forms, such as works that take the form of marriage registration/divorce registration that can actually be submitted to the city hall, and general store-type installations dealing with products that fix reproductive labor within the home as a woman's “sex (sex)” and “joy of life.” In this series, we aim to dismantle the strong stereotypical image of women that women themselves have unknowingly internalized through education and culture so that women who have grown up in a society where youth, obedience, and innocence are regarded as female virtues to resist the structure of exploitation through their own free choices.
