作品详情

Production method: An inkjet print of the photo is transferred using gel medium and mounted on a wooden panel.

After that, they are painted and sprayed with hologram paint.

Material: wood panel, gesso, gel medium, acrylic, spray

Concept: Embody the “way in reality where you slide and run away” that appears on a screen or monitor as a two-dimensional work

Secret story of the work: I usually work as a cameraman in my parents' photo studio.
One of these tasks is the task of repairing old or damaged photographs.
It is a process of repairing and printing data copied or scanned in a studio with Photoshop.
There are times when “real” dust and dirt adhering to the PC display monitor during this work are mistaken for dirt in the scanned (copied) photo images and attempted to be erased.
Normally, it's a trivial event that I don't care about, but every time I made a mistake and tried to turn it off, I became interested in what was happening on the surface of this display.
The feeling of mixing reality and virtual (real image and virtual image) that occurs when dust doesn't go away even if you try to erase it. It's as if the brain loses sight of the boundary between virtual and reality for a moment and the real world slides away.

In this series “Screen,” we will focus on how reality slides and challenges us to visualize and present it on a two-dimensional work, which cannot be touched like a mirage even if it is right in front of us.
Tracing reality that flickers in an intimate place is both confirming one's own coordinates, and at the same time, it should also be an act of moving outside of oneself (the world).
Please enjoy asking the question “dust adhering to the surface of the display” from a small point and the world that will unfold beyond that.
