The concept of the work

The concept of the work

I continue to create works by accumulating and multiplying detailed parts. The reason for this is that when you think about the formation of substances (natural objects, living organisms, etc.) in this world, they are made up of countless fine cells and capillaries. I think that if we make a sculpture with an “inner shape” instead of the “surface shape” that we can usually see, we can give viewers the feeling that people feel when they see natural objects or living forms, even if they are made by humans.

This work was also created using a technique called gas welding of countless iron wires. A number of fine wires are welded together to form large chunks. Also, we make use of the rust of the material called iron, and we have not applied any particular anti-rust treatment. The fact that it will decay and disappear someday is also regarded as an important element that gives the impression that iron, which is a man-made object, looks like a natural object.

Also, as the title suggests, this work expresses “FORCE” = “power.” It is “gravity,” which can be said to be the most important when creating a sculpture, or the “force” that matter itself has invisible to the eye.

The material called heavy iron gives a light impression by creating a space in the center of the work, while expressing the power we usually feel being pulled by the ground and the power we feel from the ground.
