Beyond the categories of art photography and advertisement photography, Ueda Yoshihiko has been cutting shutters on the front line for over 40 years. His works dealing with diverse subjects such as portraits, forests, and families, and capturing the world's greatest moments with a sincere and consistent gaze have received high praise both domestically and internationally.
In the solo exhibition at Gallery & Restaurant Butaiura, after going through the 1987 fruit work series, we will be presenting works that were newly photographed last year.
It can be said that Ueda's work is characterized by carefully weaving ideas over a long period of time, and the motifs, which have been re-captured over 30 years, create an exquisite harmony between natural light, a background like a world of painting, and a single screen. Also, in this shoot, it is said that more vivid reality, which can only be shown in photographs, and the symbolism, presence, and story of fruit were revealed, and it may feel like a portrait of a fruit.
It shows essential “life,” and the signs they wear and the time they are superimposed are expressed in the richness of a painting like Mathière. Ueda's gentle and sharp point of view will overlap with our eyes throughout his work and project a multi-layered world.
