Libri Finti Clandestini is a cosmopolitan collective that bases its work and research on artists’ books, exploring the forgotten places of the urban landscape. The project was born with the aim of creating stationery (books and sketchbooks) ready to be used and small pop-up editions re-using paper materials coming from abandoned factories, laboratories around Europe, paper mills... (each one individually bound by hand, stamped and numbered) and over the years the project has expanded towards other artistic directions, from photography toward letterpress, always in the name of experimentation.

* "NIGHTJET" *

During the night of 25 May 2023 we catched the Nightjet 235 train in Milan Rogoredo at 21.26, road to Wien for

participating at the “Fanzineist Vienna”. We brought onboard papers, threads, needles and with our iPhone along

with a Epson printer Workforce-110 we tried a mission never done before.

The aim was to make a fanzine on a train, during the 12 hours journey toward Wien!

Scans, photographs, layout of the project, printing, handbinding and trimming of the book, all made on board in

one night!

The result is an edition of 50 copies (5 x 6,5 cm), handbound from 5 to 7 am on the same night.

* "FLOATING LOOPHOLE" *

“The loophole isn’t always an escape expedient but it can be a remedy, a leap that in this case leads to a new

dimension, high and floating above the buildings and roofs of the cities, almost at sky level”

Starting from this though, in January 2023 we made a fanzine printed in risograph (black color + fluorescent orange spray handmade interventions) dedicated to an exploration of an abandoned energy production and storage site.

All the material in this publication was collected, scanned and photographed during that moment on the site, therefore developed, paginated, printed and packaged in a 50-piece edition.

* ““ダブル トラブル” - DOUBLE TROUBLE” *

Double Trouble is a double look at the Asian metropolis Tokyo and Taipei, visited by Libri Finti Clandestini & 5X Letterpress between the end of October and the beginning of November 2022, on the occasion of the respective Tokyo and Taipei Art Book Fair.

The material in this publication was photographed with Ilford HP5 PLUS, Fomapan 100 Profi Line and Kodak Ultramax 400 films therefore scanned and mix together with digital photographs with the addition of images, labels and stamps from magazines and postal envelopes found at second hand stores while traveling.

For interiors it has been digitally printed on Sappi Raw 120 g/m2, Woodstock Rosso 140 g/m2, Cordenons Stardream Quartz 140 g/m2, “Rank Xerox” 90 g/m2 paper, while for the cover it has been screen printed on Sirio Ultra Black 250 g/m2 paper in silver ink.

First edition of 55 copies, signed and stamped.

A second edition is going to be made to be presented at the Tokyo Art Book Fair 2023.
