山内祥太は、テクノロジーをベースに制作したデジタルイメージと、身体や粘土といったプリミティブな素材を掛け合わせた、デジタルと彫刻的想像力の融合を主な作品制作として試みています。デジタル的な新しさだけではなく、人間的な生々しさや普遍性を意識した制作に取り組んでいます。

「大画面に映し出される肌色の生き物は、制作の過程において偶然生まれてしまった産物で、この姿を目の当たりにした時、なにか見てはいけないものを見てしまったような気持ちになったことを覚えています。果たして、人間なのかゴリラなのか。この生き物は自身の皮膚をまるで服のように着たり脱いだりを繰り返し、それをストリップショーのごとく見せびらかします。そのように恥部をさらけ出して、過激に振る舞う姿を見せ物のように楽しむ精神性を、私は現代人のコミュニケーションに見ています」（山内祥太）

Shota Yamauchi endeavors to fuse digital technology and sculptural imagination in his practice, combining technology-based digital imagery with primitive materials such as the body and clay. “Is the skin-colored creature shown on the large screen really a human being or gorilla? This creature keeps putting on and taking off its own skin like you would with clothes, and shows it off like someone performing in a strip show. I see a similar mentality in communication today, where people enjoy the spectacle of exposing their private parts and behaving in an extreme manner.” (Shota Yamauchi)
