美術館について

現在84歳のボルジェスは、今も毎日アトリエに通い、大変精力的に創作に取り組んでいます。ジョタ・ボルジェス記念館＆木版画美術館（MEMORIAL J.BORGES & MUSEU DA XILOGRAVURA）と名づけられている自身のアトリエでボルジェスは日々、その作品と作家に惹かれて世界中から訪れる来館者を迎えます。同館ではまた、コルデル文学および版画の大家からの学びを求めて平日に訪れる多くの学校団体をも受け入れています。民衆文化を奨励するボルジェスは、ペルナンブコ州における代表的存在であり、各地の学校で木版画の芸術について講義や講演等を行っています。

About the Museum

Today, Borges is 84 years old and he still goes to his studio every day, he works and he is a super active artist. At his studio, called "MEMORIAL J. BORGES & MUSEU DA XILOGRAVURA", he daily receives people from all over the world who come to visit him, meet the artist and see his work. The museum also receives several school groups during the week that come to learn from the Cordel master and xylograph artist. Encouraging popular culture, Borges is one of the greatest references in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. He also gives classes and lectures at schools about the art of xylograph.

Hoje Borges esta com 84 anos, ainda vem ao seu ateliê todos os dias, trabalha e faz suas obras diariamente é um artista super ativo, em seu ateliê que leva o nome de MEMORIAL J.BORGES & MUSEU DA XILOGRAVURA, ele recebe diariamente pessoas do mundo inteiro que vem lhe visitar para conhecer o artista e sua obra, assim como recebemos diversas escolas durante a semana que veem aprender com o Mestre cordel e gravura, incentivando a cultura popular Borges é uma das grandes referências no estado de PE. Dá aulas e palestras pelas escolas falando sobre a arte da xilogravura.

Jose Francisco Borges（ジョゼ・フランシスコ・ボルジェス）

愛称 J. Borges（ジョタ・ボルジェス）

版画家、詩人

1935年ブラジル、ペルナンブーコ州生まれ。

同州の無形文化遺産に指定されている。ブラジル北東部の庶民の間で愛好されてきた詩的形式の文学小冊子「コルデル」に幼少の頃より親しみ、20歳の時に初の自作コルデルを発刊した。2作目に自身の木版画で表紙を飾り大人気を博したことにより、木版画の制作依頼が増え、30代半ばごろから様々な賞を受賞し、版画家として、国内のみならず世界的にも認められる芸術家となった。ブラジル各地や自身のアトリエで木版画を教え、指導者としての側面も評価され、2000年にはユネスコより文化教育活動の部門で受賞。2002年には国連のカレンダーに採用された。彼の版画は、ブラジル北東部内陸の乾燥地帯、セルタォンの風俗や動植物を題材とし、素朴で親しみやすい。84歳になった現在でも後継者を育てながら日々アトリエ で制作活動をしている。
