Nicolas Depetris is a French painter and architect HMONP working between Menton and Fukuoka. His series Silent Cartography examines what places retain: the traces of labour, construction, weather and time across industrial territories, cities, mountains and coastlines. Working primarily in oil, he rebuilds observed sites through displaced colour, compressed distance and architectural structure, placing human-made forms against slower geological time.

Nicolas Depetris (b. 1984, Nice, France) is a French painter and architect HMONP working between Menton and Fukuoka. He studied painting and printmaking with Jean-Baptiste Sécheret from 2006 to 2013 and graduated from ENSAPB Paris-Belleville in 2015.

His practice develops from field observation and an archive assembled through long-distance travel across Europe and Asia. He works primarily in oil on canvas and panel, alongside drawing, monotype and wood engraving.

Solo exhibitions include TSUZUKU at FEELSEEN Ginza, Tokyo (2024); Le bâti et l'oubli in Menton (2022); Sept cents jours au Japon at SWAY Gallery, Paris (2018); and L'homme et le paysage at the Institut français du Japon - Kyushu, Fukuoka (2017).

His work has also been exhibited in France, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom.
