ライブペイント、壁画制作を中心に活動するアートユニット。2007年に結成され、具象モチーフを描くhitchと抽象モチーフを描くsimoで構成される。ストリートアートをベースに、スピード感のあるライブ性の高い表現を得意とし、 2人で1枚の絵を描く。現代アートの複雑なコンテクストを放棄し、観る人が直感的に楽しめる力強い絵を創作する。クライアントワークではamazon,adidas,Redbull,といった企業のイベント出演や広告物の制作、CM・PVへの出演を果たし、動画作品の制作、イベントのオーガナイズと活動の幅を広げてきた。近年はアメリカ、中国などでの壁画制作ツアーを成功させ、より広い世界でのアプローチを図る。
WHOLE9 is a two-man Japanese artist unit based in Osaka, Japan. Influenced by various genres including street art, they create live paintings and large-scale murals of exceptional quality that reflect their unique sensibilities and experience.
The members of WHOLE9 are “hitch,” whose main focus is realistic representational painting of organic forms, and “simo,” who concentrates on abstract shapes and patterns inspired by nature. Together they create collaborative works of art that transcend the expressions of both artists as individuals. Surrounded by a community of like-minded creators, they strive to live a life filled with art and creative exploration.
