Jongheon Bae (b. 1969) discovers artistic value in ordinary things through deep thinking and lyrical sensibility, expressing them through visual media. He creates his own works without restrictions on form or material. He finds traditional Eastern ideal landscapes in everyday elements, such as scratches on building walls and fences, and incorporates them into his works. The ideal worldview he expresses through oil paintings creates a unique value of its own.
Jongheon Bae majored in painting at Gachon University and its graduate school, and completed a doctorate in fine arts at Kyungpook National University. He won the Park Dongjun Prize of Art in 2024 and the Goam Art Award in 2014, and has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, both domestically and internationally. Following the Glenfiddich Artist-in-Residence program in Scotland in 2021, he is expanding the scope of his work through inspiration from new spaces and experiences. Gallery SoSo hosted his solo exhibition, 《Trying Nothing》 in 2023, and in this year 2025, presented his solo exhibition 《No way》. For the fair Art Jakarta, He made newly made 4 artworks.
