Founded by artists Timo Vaittinen and Tuukka Kaila in 2017 in Helsinki, Rooftop Press explores publishing as a platform forartistic existence and collaborative work. We aim to explore how books can have a meaningful presence in the contemporary art ecosystem .Rooftop Press maintains a micro-press in Helsinki with facilities for Risograph printing, perfect binding andfinishing. With changing partners, Rooftop also organises an international artist-publishers' event Bookies.

21 Monumental Sculptures For Insects by Timo Vaittinen. Risograph printed images of 21 sculptures created for Eläinten asumismessut (Animal Housing Fair), an art festival in Loviisa, Finland. Organic materials were gathered on site, rearranged, and returned to the same location. Foreword by ant researcher Heikki Helanterä, professor of evolutionary biology, University of Oulu.

Things For Homes by James Prevett. At the heart of Things for Homes / Homes for Things areconversations about our social relationship to objects and the spatialrelations these depend on. Prevett’s enquiry is intimate and gentle,occurring as it does on a domestic scale in the homes of people whodon’t own art, and perhaps have never cared for it that much before.Without the expectations and politics that grand publicness entails, itembraces instead the potential for social connection through makingand giving of sculpture to strangers.

Paste Of Time by Dylan Ray Arnold & Océane Bruel. Paste of Time translates the two artists’ sculptural practice intobook form with stencil printed bricolage works that uncannily hoverin between two and three dimensions. Conceptually, the work dealswith mobility as a physical and mental way of being. Practically, it is amaterial excercise in collaborative working using packing, storing andhoarding as artistic tools. The book includes two essays on immaterialobjects and posthumanist viewpoint on art making and existing.

A lamp lit a room on a night of a kind. A tree has fallen, nowthere is a hut. Sonja Donner’s artist’s book is a pocket companioninviting people to gather around it, much like a table or a meal might.It traces the artist’s search for a dwelling as a space, as a communityand as a mental state in places and things as she visits, befriendsand spends time with them. Donner’s works find their realisationwhere people assemble to listen to each other and share theexperience of being in the world together. The book forms a carry-onarchive recorded in photographic notes and short literature includingan essay on avian architecture by curator Elina Suoyrjö.
