Small Words

There are thoughts we keep in our hearts, but for various reasons cannot or do not say. I have written such words in tiny text on glass slides, photographed them using a microscope and macro lens, and then arranged the prints together. The title “Small Words” has two meanings: simple monologues whispered quietly in the heart, and words physically written in tiny text. This project started with the idea that words that are hard to say might be easier to express when they go through a complex creative process, which can give a psychological distance.

The act of peering at tiny text through a microscope or camera lens is also a metaphor for visualizing and objectively observing the small voices within oneself. By continuing this work, I may deepen my self-understanding, organize my thoughts, and potentially gain new insights. I also think it might lead to fresh perspectives for more deeply contemplating the relationship between myself and this world.

Variable dimensions

This set includes 15 different photos printed on copier paper (approximately 70 g/m2) using a laser printer. Each print is A4 size, and the set is an open edition.
