Work Details

When you hear the terms Mt. Nantai and Mt. Nantai, why are these mountains divided into men and women? I felt doubtful about that.

There are no special feminine or masculine characteristics in those mountains, and I created this work based on such interest that mountains that seem almost identical in terms of traits alone can also be interpreted as being ungendered or same-sex.

I have drawn the relationship between the body and what occurs from it, and the difficulties of living related to the body.
The environment in which the body I draw is placed and the discomfort I feel comfortable in it is very everyday.
Everyday matters are not just silly, and I think that what can be seen from that macro perspective is part of an urgent problem for society.

Even if you say something serious about something urgent, it is difficult to imagine how desperate it is with your own sense of reality, even if you can understand it in words.
However, by passing through a small-scale filter called everyday life where one can empathize continuously with oneself, it is possible to convey that urgency to viewers with more reality than when drawing realistically or seriously.

When confronting a big problem that makes me sick of just imagining it myself now, I first observe my feet and surroundings.
And I really only paint scenes that can be seen from simple everyday life.
