Work Details
In 2015, the series “Portrait at Sunset” won the Kahoku Award at the Kahoku Art Exhibition. This series is one of the representative works I have been drawing for over 20 years from 2003 to the present, and the fantasy scene I imagined while watching the sky at dusk when I was young is the base of this painting.
The figure that looks like a scale cloud floating in the sky is the personification of nightfall and is like a symbol.
The painting material uses acrylic for the panel, and is created by making full use of airbrush and masking.
The total number of production days is about 3 weeks
This work was taken in a gallery space adjacent to the atelier, and the atelier, gallery, and warehouse are attached to a space of about 50 square meters.
This atelier/gallery space was originally my parents' fish shop, but I also remodeled everything myself.
The name of the gallery is “Gallery S,” and permanent exhibitions and sales are also held here.

The base of this picture is a fantasy scene I imagined while watching the sky at dusk when I was young.
I loved watching the sky, especially the sky at nightfall, when my childhood wasn't always fun, but rather mentally, it was a pretty tough time.
While looking at the sky, I imagined and fantasized about various images. Then, it made me forget my painful feelings and negative feelings, albeit temporarily.
About 10 years ago, there was a customer who bought the 30th series of The Portrait of a Nightfall series, and I heard about it. It seems that the customer was also deeply traumatized during her childhood.
The person cut through like a cloud of scales may be his own heart itself, which has fallen apart. However, it is strange that that broken heart also comforts who I am now.
