神話に登場するピグマリオンの物語にインスパイアされている。 彫刻家は自分の思い描く理想の女性像をもとに彫像を制作し、その作品に恋をした。 慈愛に満ちた愛の女神は、それに肉体と生命を与えた。 この作品は、彫像が人間として受肉する瞬間の祝いの場面を描いている。 作家は窓を使った構図で、見る者の視線を表現の対象に向け、女性の繊細な姿が仕掛けの石膏彫刻と呼応し、夢のような詩的な空間を作り出している。
