本作品タイトルの「楽園からの転落」は、直訳すると「楽園から落ちる」であり、この場合は「地上を通り過ぎる」という意味に派生する。神の手が豊穣の象徴である蛇を女性の子宮に入れ、絵の中の女性がリンゴのような赤い玉を下に投げているが、これは物質化に転じることの隠喩である。背景のウサギは復活祭の象徴であると同時に豊穣の象徴でもある。水は生命の源でもある。静謐な絵の中で、「生命」の力が常に発揮されている。
