Work Details

ドローイングをもとにした0号の作品シリーズの一つ。

主に黄土系の油絵具を用いて描いていたが、あまりうまく進まなかった。少し整理して、不透明な鈍いピンクの絵具の層で終えている。

Painter. Born in Tokyo in 1982. MFA in oil painting study from the University of Tsukuba in 2007. Starting from familiar views such as hills, water surfaces, light, and fences, Furuhashi makes paintings in which thin stains and tactile thick paint coexist. In recent years, she has also been researching painting materials related to transparency/ translucency. Recent group exhibitions include "The Way of Paintings 2022" (Sompo Museum of Art, Tokyo, 2022), "Nakanojo Biennale 2019" (Former Daisan Elementary School, Gunma, 2019), and "BankART Under 35 2017" (BankART Studio NYK, Kanagawa, 2017). Recent solo exhibitions include "Artist Series Vol. 101 Kaori Furuhashi - Between Flickers -" (Kiyosu City Haruhi Art Museum, Aichi, 2023), and "Islands in the Mud" (Viento Arts Gallery, Gunma, 2019). Won the Semi-Grand Prize in "The 10th Kiyosu City Haruhi Painting Triennale", the Excellent Work Award in "FACE 2019 Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Art Award Exhibition" and more. ... When painting, I repeatedly choose whether to connect things naturally or strangely. What words do the lines, planes, blurs, and sharp edges that interferes with clear perception of objects evoke? For me, it’s separation, parallel, coexistence, floating, holes, gravity, transparency, etc. My work is like a tentative collection of the subtle nuances from those words. Photo by Emi Nakata
