Work Details
My collages, are like patchwork, into which I recycle my leftovers
My collages are assemblages of different materials :
- paint crumbs (left over from my palettes)
- papers that make people happy, gift wrapping, chocolates or candy wrapper…
- reworked photocopies of plants from botany manuals or pictures of old works of art, artificial flowers i do myself.
Arrangements of luxuriant plant and mineral backgrounds on marbled or granite paper, that form a kind of diorama. Edenic landscapes populated by characters worried by the imminent catastrophe.
The bodies of the characters are those of my entourage, who sometimes show their behinds in a nod to the bitterness of society. They all wear masks, a tribute to the artists I love (Oskar Schlemmer's Dada masks, Japanese theater masks or other distant masks by Mayan or African artists).
These compositions can be reminiscent of Persian miniatures or Meliès cinema.
Cut and paste, mixed techniques on paper and cellophane

Camille Fischer, lives and works in Strasbourg. She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Antwerp (fashion design) and the HEAR Strasbourg (jewellery workshop). Her works balance between fashion, jewellery and contemporary art. She is represented in Paris by Maïa Muller gallery. Camille Fischer was born in 1984, lives and works in Strasbourg and is represented in Paris by the Maia Muller gallery. She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Antwerp (fashion design) and the HEAR Strasbourg (jewellery workshop). Her practice is multidisciplinary, combining drawings, collages, objects, jewellery, clothing, textiles, performances and installations to reach a "Gesammkunstwerk". The baroque aesthetic she developed fits in some ways in a symbolist heritage, that she’s assuming actually, quoting William Morris, Maeterlinck or Huysmans for instance. Comparable in sophistication, this work differs, however, in refusing the morbid fascination, but retaining the historical concern of artists then, before the changes announced by the industrial revolution, which echoes her generation to the comparable contemporary challenges of globalization.
