Abstract Painter
Minseok Jang (장민석) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores perception, reality, and the subtle shifts that occur between the familiar and the unfamiliar. Working across painting, 3D modeling, and immersive digital media, Jang investigates how visual experiences can alter our understanding of the world around us.His ongoing Water Splash series began with a simple observation: a raindrop on a window can momentarily transform an otherwise familiar scene. Through distortion, refraction, overlapping colors, and fluid lines, Jang translates this physical phenomenon into an exploration of perception—questioning whether reality exists as something fixed or is continuously shaped by the way we see it.Jang’s practice extends beyond the traditional canvas into digital and spatial environments. In projects such as 10 to 0 to 10, he translates the visual language of painting into VR, incorporating movement, spatial depth, and sound to transform viewing into an immersive experience. By moving between physical and digital media, his work examines not only how images change, but how the act of seeing itself can become an evolving experience.Jang received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he studied Fine Arts and 3D Media Arts. His work has been exhibited in Chicago, Seoul, Greece, Istanbul, and UK
