◉ “About the Fixed Window-Series”

What kind of world lies beyond the window you see?

Sometimes I close my eyes and drift toward the scenery reflected in your gaze.

I try to imagine the colors, the shapes —

the solitude, the hope, the hollow spaces,

the happiness and despair that live within it.

And as I imagine, I reach for your pain. There are moments when another’s sorrow seeps beneath my fragile skin, and I no longer know whether it belongs to you or to me.

Someone’s pain slips quietly under my skin, softening, widening — so slowly that my own outline begins to fade.

The landscape I see and the world mirrored in your eyes will never meet, no matter how I struggle. That truth aches within me,and yet, only a quiet stillness keeps falling into my heart like snow.

In the fixed window, the world bends softly, every boundary dissolving into light, showing me the same dream again and again —a dream that will never open.

From that sealed window,I gaze at the world only I can see, quietly, alone.

Painter/Painter

By using acrylic paint and incorporating mixed colors, accidental expressions, and sensory touches, they are created with an awareness of “paintings that appeal to the senses.” Multiple styles have been developed, such as the “Mind Record” series, which is an attempt to keep fragments of memories flowing through me as they are, the “Object” series, which features rich textures using modeling paste, and the “Fixed Window” series, which depicts windows held by various people under the theme of “human boundaries.” Born in Miyagi. He began presenting as a painter in 2008. Lives and works in Tokyo (currently lives in Tochigi Prefecture). ----- [Statement] When I keep a diary, I write my “feelings” for that day, not the events that happened that day. Therefore, similar words are repeatedly lined up in the diary. “What did you do” and “who were you with” have been omitted, so I will use fragments of words as clues later and move forward little by little with the scenes of the day. It doesn't fulfill its essential role as a diary at all. I write and reread such a “useless diary” in the same way and guess the events of the day. The letters are sometimes strong, sometimes weak, punched, and smudged. Sometimes stars and heart symbols were attached — the feelings that oozed through those lines and shapes slowly made me think back nostalgically. People are multifaceted, and they live with cruelty and compassion, purity and cunning, generosity and narrow-mindedness, and by yardsticks whose scales change. I try to hold on to that beautiful distortion so strongly from time to time,
I'm trying to record “traces of the moment” that shake and don't stay. I began drawing by replacing the feelings that seeped into the swaying letters in my diary with the colors, shapes, and matières of the paint. When the colors mix and begin to resonate beautifully, I feel that something that cannot be conveyed in words is gently conveyed. Shimizu Kayoco
