Work Details
This work is based on the motif of roots. The primary material is kimono fabric donated by various people.
The word “roots” refers not only to the roots of plants, but can also express invisible connections to one’s homeland, ancestors, and history. I see each kimono as a fragment of a person’s life, carrying the memories and time of its former owner. By layering these pieces together and shaping them into roots, I seek to express the invisible connections between the present and the past, and between one person and another.
