Work Details
女性の姿をした伝承上の存在"セイレーン"は、サイレンの語源。その美しい歌声は、人を惑わせ渦に引き込んでしまうため、人々の注意を喚起する警戒音の意味を持ちました。
本作品は、セイレーン達が地図を広げて知恵を寄せ、これから自分たちがどこに行くか算段を立てているシーンです。彼女たちの存在は、これまで海上では可視化されなかったけれど、確かにそこに前からずっと在ったもの。海面を超え、行先は自分で決める。

「営みながら朽ちゆくこと、朽ちゆくなかで作り出されるもの」
それらを考察することと、銅を急激に溶かすことでイメージを刻んでいく腐蝕行為に親和性を感じ、近年は腐蝕銅レリーフの表現を追求している。
