This exhibition “With Concerns” is a series I have created myself in the midst of social tension and uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was an age where the assumptions of life fluctuated greatly, and acts and relationships with people that had been taken for granted were suddenly lost.
In the midst of that, I became more aware than ever before of changes in my own emotions and behavior.
Even if you are in a situation where anxiety and restrictions continue,
By consciously expressing gratitude for “what has already been done now,”
My inner attitude turned positive, and that change spread to actions and results. I have felt such psychological changes as my own actual experience. I am creating this series as an attempt to visualize such internal processes.
At the same time, I was also confronted with the question “As an artist, what should I draw now?”
It is not a direct depiction of social events,
Thematizing the “state of consciousness” itself that supported me in an age of turmoil
I think it can be an expression that is contemporary.
With that in mind, I came to the production of this work.
The flower I'm drawing as a motif
Since childhood, it has been in me as a symbolic presence that conveys gratitude and feelings to others.
I want colorful flowers to bring quiet margins and sensory affirmation to those who see them without imposing emotions or explaining them in words.
My goal with this series is not to change the situation itself.
Rather, it shows how changes in consciousness about how situations are received can influence individual behavior and future.
“With Confidence” is viewed as an expression of resilience that starts from an extremely private and internal sense of gratitude and is quietly open to others living in the same era.
Being able to present my work at this wonderful venue
Also, I am sincerely grateful to be able to share this place where wonderful artists have connected us.
Also, there is a connection with the fact that my work was printed on this TODA BUILDING temporary enclosure during construction,
I think I had the opportunity to be seen by many people.
I am really happy to be able to hold this exhibition at “Tokyo 8 minutes” in TODA BUILDING, which has such a background.
By the time I left this place,
Your heart, even just a little bit, is clear
And if you were quietly looking forward,
There is no greater joy than that.

Artist
artist
After studying fashion design in Japan and England, he worked as a designer for fashion brands. Okuda Yuta, who became an artist in 2016, has actively participated in solo and group exhibitions in Japan, and has continued to build a career with production and presentations.
After becoming an artist, he expressed his work in miniature paintings composed only of calculated lines, but in the past few years he has continued to present mainly works of “flowers” that place emphasis on “chance.”
Okuda Yuta's paintings, where paint and colors emphasized by intense strokes and fine line drawing with a pen coexist, fascinate the viewer.
