「あなた目を覚まして！あら、私の旦那さんはどうして来てないの？こ のお葬式が終わったら、私早く家に帰らなきゃ。旦那さんと出かける予定にしているの。ああどうしてなの私も死んでしまいたい！あのね、旦那さんの髭は私がいつも剃ってあげてるの。旦那さんは、私を本当に可愛がってくれてるの。」
祖母はもう私の顔もわからない。
“Darling, open your eyes! How come my darling isn’t here? I’ve got to go home, as soon as this funeral is over. I’m going out with my darling. Oh gosh why, I want to die, too! I’m always shaving my darling’s beard, you know. My darling is really sweet to me.”
My grandmother does not recognize my face anymore.
