Work Details
Technical pen on zelkova wood
The work uses the "gate" as its central imagery, depicting the archway of Praça do Comércio in Portugal, symbolizing the connection between different regions as if guiding viewers through the gateway to foreign cultures and new worlds. The gate is adorned with various animals, including flora and fauna that represent maritime culture and humanity's exploration of the unknown. Within the frame of the gate, the map presented traces the footsteps of explorers and showcases the faces of diverse communities and cities.
