The concept of the work

“I stared softly at the sight of a squirrel monkey clinging to a branch.
In that landscape where light and shadow, transparency and opacity, presence and absence overlap, contradictions such as “I can see but I can't touch it” and “I'm not free to be here” quietly emerge.

The expressions of squirrel monkeys include curiosity, anxiety,

And I felt a firm will to look back at me.”

It is a sequel to the 2001 production “Wish.”

“Wish” was a work based on the theme of “strong feelings for things beyond what blocks my eyes, and a desire to be loved and recognized.”

Now, more than 20 years later, when I faced that work again and realized that nothing had changed, a deep sense of hopelessness spread in my heart.

The “feeling of not being able to live well” that I have felt since I was young.

I was diagnosed with HSP and adult children this year, and I feel like I'm finally beginning to see the outline of that “barrier.”

Utilizing the nature of animals that come close to them naturally, I would like to be able to quietly project their inner feelings and the world through their gaze.
