Born in Tokyo, Japan My art practice consists in the creation of interaction spaces between the public and private spheres. There, the persons involved meet and exchange, they discover new thoughts, become part of the artwork and make it their own. I have been creating such installations for over 10 years. Nakajima creates site-specific and ephemeral installations that offer people a shared spatial experience and thereby help them relate one another while respecting each individuality and different standpoint. Often with transparent or translucent material in spacious arrangement, his work intervenes a site through the reflection, diffusion and shading of light, re-connecting a location and its surrounding anew.
