Work Details
"Moonlight - Landscape" series
Alongside the works that Miyauoka creates by painting in reverse, the "Moonlight - Landscape" series is an impromptu collection of pieces where oil paint, layered in several coats on canvas, is scratched before it dries to reveal the colors underneath. What is consistently depicted in these works are the subtle colors, hints, noises, vibrations, heartbeats, waves, and the tremors of the air that are faintly visible in the darkness under the moonlight — things that do not clearly appear to the eye, but resemble waves or sounds. These are works that listen attentively to the sounds quietly resonating under the moonlight.
