Work Details
Glass/copper
Life is generally portrayed to be abundant, but I am attempting to feel life from aspects like decomposition and death. The shapes unique to blown glass, motifs of the body, and clusters, may often seem eerie. However, because the shiny property of glass allowed me to simply find them beautiful, it has led me to return to life as being abundance, as mentioned at the beginning. I create work in-between the phenomenon of glass and my perspective of life.
Testimonials
Terasawa’s work, seeming to allude to a fusion of artificial structures and the body, evokes the grotesque psychology, contradictions and unnoticed internal energy that we have inside us. Existences that are often deemed as deformed in the natural world, are extremely multi-layered. The delicate and organic glass particles that she creates, seems to be a possession by the collective memory reminiscent of the origin of life, where we are each a deformed individual and also the whole.
