About this series
Using sunlight as a primordial energy, this series fixes the accumulation of time onto photographic paper. Concentrated light burns the surface, causing chemical transformations in silver and gelatin through which color and image emerge. Sunlight, as “light in combustion,” inscribes the present moment, while photograms and negatives carry traces of past light. Their overlap forms a stratified record of time.
Production video
The statue rises in a chemical reaction with light.
The process is recorded as a video.
0:00 — Darkroom/Photogram
0:45 — ● Solaris Lux (baked by sunlight)
1:22 — ● Veils (melting and fluctuating silver)
I think gold is not a color, but an expression of “eternal light” that goes beyond reincarnation.
In addition to the light stored through the camera and the light that penetrates it in a darkroom and causes silver to react
I create works using gold as an expression of eternal light and sunlight.
I feel that light is very important to me.
Light is an essential art material for representing life and the sky.
