Kitamura Hana

Graduated from Kyoto City University of Art, majoring in oil painting. Half Mexican and Japanese. While working as a jewelry craftsman in Kobe, he also creates paintings and writes.

Born and raised at the foot of a mountain in Shiga, he is interested in sunlight filtering through the trees and plant patterns created by natural light. There are a wide range of techniques of expression, such as the “Outline of the Wood-Filtering Sun” series drawn by tracing sunlight filtering through the trees, “cutout paintings” drawn based on self-made cutouts, and continuous monotype works that make use of handwriting. By searching for production methods that make use of chance, I aim to express the beauty of nature itself and the intensity of light in my work.
