作品詳情
H.Garden (Ten’en) is a work that records those who stand at the center of a family.
The character “en” (園) carries meanings such as “a place where people gather in joy” and “a garden of pleasure.”
Built only from materials found at Japanese home-improvement stores, joined by adhesive alone, each title rendered as an anagram and logged onto Google Maps. Yet in domestic open-call exhibitions, craftsmanship tends to be prized, while assemblage is often deemed low in artistic value and rarely considered for evaluation at all. It felt like a symptom of an age steeped in lookism.
All of it is an attempt to turn the transience of an event into memory.
藝術家
Conceptual Artist
Born in Kanagawa, based in Tokyo.
Yudai Nakaya's practice begins with a sense of dissonance felt in the face of a single event. He re-describes that event from multiple perspectives—human, society, animal, plant, time, machine—and turns the gaps that emerge between these descriptions into works.
Each project is numbered as a "Case": one Case is a body of multiple descriptions surrounding one event. A Case is never complete; descriptions from new perspectives are added over time. As long as there are events in the world, the Cases will continue to grow.
