About the work
This work is part of a series created for the 2021 group exhibition "What Would I Do in That Situation?: The Drawers of Printmaking" (Geidai Art Plaza, Tokyo).
The series unfolds in the setting of an imaginary beach resort, where its own narrative gradually emerges.
This work features the teddy bears from the story alongside a dermatograph pencil. A dermatograph is an oil-based pencil used in the lithographic drawing process and is a familiar tool to lithographers. Through the little bears, I wanted to capture the simple pleasure of peeling back the paper wrapping as the pencil is used.
