作品詳情
Video (3:01, loop), Raspberry Pi, 1.3 inch LCD monitor, synthetic leather, Netron Net
Iyanaga has been painting on the computer since her childhood. Placing a focus on digital-specific characteristics such as pixels or lack of texture, she explores expressions that add an aspect of time to paintings by making the painting process visual. The concept of completion becomes ambiguous through looping. Recently she puts a focus on the materiality of circuit boards or monitors themselves, expanding her field to collages with different materials and installations.
Testimonial
Iyanaga participated in AFK in 2022; it seems that in these few years, her artistic practice has achieved new expansions at an immense pace, whilst inheriting her central subject of the unique fusion of digital and analogue. As a personal opinion, the increase in scalability can be raised as one of these expansions. Around 2022, Iyanaga’s artwork could mostly be categorised as either large or small; recently it feels as if her work has an embedded structure where the small constitutes the large in a way that is not simple addition. I am excited to see what kind of present location she will show to us this time.
