作品詳情
The origin of Japan's world-pioneering robotics. Using the mechanism of a tea carrying doll, I prototyped a four-legged cat-shaped automata. Traditional techniques are used, and the materials are all domestic. A wild cherry tree body is powered by steel ferns, and green agate from Izumo is used for eyes.
The concept of the work: Combining traditional Japanese techniques with further new kinetics to evolve into a new phase.
Production method: Gears and body frames are made using domestic wood, mainly Japanese wild cherry tree. The head is lacquered on carved paulownia, and the eyeballs are polished green agate from Izumo region. The wooden gears consist of max. of eight pieces to prevent warping or cracking.
Secret story of the work: It was designed before COVID-19, but due to COVID-19, all exhibitions were canceled, so the production was delayed.
