Flower Goddess

Paintings are a place of encounter with “fairies.” “Fairies” are not so-called fairies in the West; they are polymorphic beings, and they are figures of ancestral spirits and spirits that Japanese people have discovered in the mountains. Also, it is an imaginary concept called by Henri Corvin, and I think that when imaginals that live deep in our consciousness move their habitats to paintings, they appear as “fairies.” I paint paintings in order to meet “fairies” and because I want to see them, and I express their peaceful place as a world in the middle of the picture.

“Flower Goddess” is a work with the motif of Imaginary, the goddess of a certain flower. It is also part of the “Land Spirits” series, and when I moved my base to Tohoku, I created it to preserve the spirits I felt in the land of Japan.

The author believes that coincidence, such as in surrealism, is essential as a technique for manifesting spirits in paintings, and in addition to bringing areas that cannot be controlled into art materials, I also practice using the author's own “synesthesia” as one of the materials. In addition to the feeling of actually visiting the land that serves as the motif, they are created using colors, shapes, and human figures evoked from the “name of the land” as materials.
