1. 外出自粛中は制作活動を行っていますか？
→はい、行っております。この作品のように、自宅や買い物ついでに撮影した写真をもとに、光と色彩の魔法をかけて仕上げています。また、この自粛期間中に新しく「コラージュアート」の制作も始め、表現の幅を広げるチャレンジも同時に行っております。
2. 家にいる楽しみは何ですか？（何をやっていますか？）
→楽しみとしては、好きな音楽を聴きながら空想に浸ることや、InstagramやPinterestを通して美しい作品に触れること、あとは親しい友人とビデオチャットや"あつ森"をしたり。。最近は部屋の掃除をして、少しずつ部屋が綺麗になることが楽しみの一つでもあったりしますね。インドア生活を割と楽しんでいます。
3. この作品を制作した意図・背景を教えてください
タイトルは、「Quarantine」。
海外では、外出自粛のことを意味します。
歴史にもきっと残るであろうこの時を私たちは生きていて、今の社会的な背景を反映した作品を創りたいことから、この作品は産声を上げました。『Quarantine』は連作で、これは一つ目の作品となります。
『Quarantine』連作の一つ目は、
「掴みとりたい光」について表現しています。
私が一日中過ごす部屋は、朝日が窓際から部屋一面を光で照らします。そのため、反対の壁にはカーテン等の美しい影が現れます。
そこで、朝にしか撮れないこの影をバックに決めて、被写体を私自身の手にすることを決めました。
「手を使うことで、影絵のようにストーリーを作ることができるのでは？」と感じたからです。
手と手を離した距離にすることで、「外出自粛で人と会えない。だけど、またいつか会いたい。」という社会的な背景・人々の願いを表現してみました。
『Quarantine』で伝えたいメッセージとしては、
"世界中が大変な世の中でも、僅かな希望を信じたい。"
光と色彩で満ち溢れた私の作品によって、少しでも心が癒されたら幸いです。

Inspired by personal experiences of finding solace in art and the beauty of Impressionist paintings, Priscilla Lei began creating dreamlike photo art in January 2016 under the theme “Color palettes kindle your heart ” Using a unique layering technique, which overlays “subtle light and rich colors like a mille-feuille,” their works evoke a sense of serenity and reveal a new dimension of beauty in everyday life.
