2007年から約2年半のラテンアメリカへの旅を終え2009年に帰国。壁画製作やLIVE PAINTを中心に活動中。未知の環境から得る感覚をベースに製作を行い、数十カ国もの国に絵を描く旅をする。中南米を中心とするラテンアメリカ先住民文化に強く影響を受け、彼らとの生活を通して触れたシャーマニズムが自身の絵画世界に大きく反映されている。
A talented muralist and painter, Shogo Iwakiri’s work explores the connection between humans, animals and nature, strongly influenced by his love for native latin American culture and art. Having travelled through South America for two and half years Iwakiri’s murals and paintings are mythical worlds of geometric patterns, primitive colors, soft and plump human like shapes reminiscent of ancient indigenous storytelling murals, a message from the past for the future.Returning to Japan in 2009, Iwakiri has been actively involved in solo/group exhibitions, mural creation and live painting events.
