Born in Shimane in 1944.

It features spatial expression that combines ultra-thin, translucent goose skin paper (Japanese paper) with multiple precise woodblock prints created with woodcut woodblock printing. By making full use of the “mirror pasting” method, etc., it was possible to increase the size of the “woodcut woodblock print” works used for book illustrations and picture book printing.

Production began in 1976, and the group of over 400 “Kiguchi woodblock prints” continues with the “Time of Resurrection” series (1985-)/“White Morning or Early Dawn” series (2000-), and “The Sun Rises Again” series (2008-), which represents the artist, and consistently depicts a grand story of harmony between diverse lives and civilizations.

Works are collected internally and externally at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, the British Museum, and the New Zealand Museum of Modern Art

President of the Japan Printmaking Association/ Professor Emeritus at Tama Art University (Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Printmaking)
