The work AHHHH~ depicts a scene inspired by a classic children toy - Crocodile Dentist. Crocodile Dentist is a game for young children to press or remove the plastic teeth from the crocodile’s mouth. One of the teeth is randomly preset as the “sore tooth”, if you pressed or removed the “sore tooth”, the mouth of the crocodile will shut. Although it is not really like a dentist game, it is most of the children first concept of “Dentist”.
Meanwhile, in our childhood, a story about a bird and their symbiotic relationship with crocodiles frequently told by our teacher and our parents as like as a bedtime story. The Egyptian plover, well known as the crocodile bird, is the “dentist” of the crocodiles. The crocodiles will keep their mouth open and let the Egyptian plover flies into their mouths so as to feed on decaying meat lodged between their teeth.
The tale of the crocodile bird and the Crocodile Dentist toy somehow get connected, and are shown in the picture as one scene. The work is based on the techniques of traditional Chinese Gongbi paintings. Artist tries to keep the scene as simple as the ancient classic Gongbi paintings in Song dynasty. Without complicated background to identify the space and time in the picture, Artist believes the 4 simple objects in the scene themselves can tell their own story across the border of countries, time, races and languages. As like as tales and toys - the common language all over the world.

Thoughts on the title
AHH[aː] is descripted as the Dentist Sound. It is the sound that your dentist will ask you to make in order to see inside your mouth.
