I mainly create and present art works in the form of pictorial expressions. My interest in the spirituality of believing in “invisible things”, unconsciously rooted in people since ancient times, and trying to sense them with the five senses, has led me to question what their existence and beliefs were.I am currently attempting to connect the “visible” and the “invisible”, or to show the boundary between the two, by using a method of painting that combines fragments of different qualities in terms of the concepts of time and existence.

Samejima creates her paintings by producing small three-dimensional objects as a spiritual ‘substitute’, and combining the images that are derived from them. The way various things from, shapes that seem to represent something specific, to abstract geometric forms, conflict, violate each other, create diverse boundaries and exist together in one screen, seems to depict the chaotic way of the world where both visible and invisible things equally exist. Her methodology for large and medium sized paintings is very good, she is an artist who can paint considering the space between painting and painting. Her colours and strokes are transient, and there is beauty in the abstracted sense.

1988 Born in Kyoto, Japan 2010 B.F.A. Printmaking, Kyoto Seika University People cannot see everything in the world directly and construct their own world based on fragmentary information obtained through their five senses. Based on the premise of the process of perception formed by such incomplete observation, I creates painting works as a device to show the “invisible existence” outside of the fragments. For me, creating a work of art is an act in which I, as an object, confirm the phenomenon that emerges through my subject. Through this phenomenology-based perspective, I would like to explore how people perceive the world and how they can approach things beyond the range of their perception.
