作品详情
People gather here. "Take a deep, deep breath." The space in the center serves as a small park for us—a place where we can take a break.
This is a small sculpture created using the Kanshitsu technique. In Kanshitsu, a mixture of Urushi (Japanese lacquer) and powdered clay is applied to cloth and layered repeatedly. It is fundamentally no different from the method used to create Buddhist statues 1,300 years ago. For me, sculpture begins with a simple question: How does a body stand? This is one creative answer.
