わたしは、身体・自身・他者といったテーマを元に制作を行っています。個人として生活する上で生まれる傷やかさぶた。他者までの隔たり。わたし、あなた、わたしたち。制作行為や作品が、わたしの、わたしたちの生について考え続ける術であることを願っています。

I work based on the theme of the body, self, and others. Wounds and scabs that have been formed by living as an individual. The distance to others. Me, you, us. I hope that the act of creating and artwork exist as a way to continue thinking about my own, and our lives.

時代の流れを感じながら「今」表現すべきことを見据え、「自分」や「他者」の存在を絵画の中に込めるソー・ソウエン。抽象的だけど物質的で、無機的であると同時に有機的。彼の世界観を体験した人は、きっとアートの新しい感覚に出会えたような気持ちになるはずだ。コンセプチュアルな作品は繊細で美しいだけでなく、怖いくらいの緊張感や静けさで空間を支配する。絵画を中心としつつも、インスタレーションやパフォーマンスなど他の表現方法にも果敢に挑戦していて、今後の展開が楽しみな才能のひとりである。

Soh Souen captures the existence of himself and others inside his paintings, foreseeing what needs to be expressed at this moment in the flow of time. Abstract, yet material, and though inorganic, also organic at the same time. Those who have experienced his work, must have felt an encounter with a new sense of art. His conceptual art is not only delicate and beautiful, but dominates the space with a nearly terrifying tension and quietness. Though mainly based on paintings, he boldly tries different expressions such as installations and performance, and is one of the talents with a high expectation for the future.
