Rainbow line & Black shadow HINOTORI 2
Production year:2003 Size:--- Technique:Adobe Illustrator Vector Art

This is an artwork created with the image of a firebird.

I like firebirds so I draw many times.

This series consists of straight black shadow layers and free lines of colorful gradation.

The color of this gradation is the color that I used often since my university entrance examination, and has led to my current Orecho artwork.

Orecho=オレチョとは?

本多 孝男による複数の作品シリーズをシンボル化、融合することで誕生したキャラクター。

「オレチョ」は作家の自己を投影した表現者として作品に登場している。名前の由来は"己"を"超"えるより。

What is Orecho?

The character was born by symbolizing and fusing multiple series of artworks by Takao Honda.

"Orecho" is appeared in artworks as an expresser who projects himself.

The origin of the name comes from "I want always overcome myself". In Japanese mean Ore=myself, cho=overcome.

Orecho Honda

contemporary artist

Orecho Honda is a contemporary artist who uses hologram materials to express the brilliance of everyday life. Influenced by fashion, rock music, design, spiritual world, Buddhist thought, etc., they are interested in modern society where diverse perspectives are visualized, and are working on the theme of “the real world created from viewpoints.” The work shining in rainbow colors, drawn with unique techniques, expresses the multifaceted nature of reality, believes that everyone can continue to change beyond their own boundaries, and questions the importance of consciously choosing a point of view. The artist's name “Orecho” symbolizes the will to go beyond one's own boundaries and continue to take on challenges. Orecho Honda | Orecho HONDA Born in Fukuoka Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Space Design, Fashion Design I create paintings as contemporary art with the theme of “the real world created from viewpoints.” Insights and realizations gained from fields such as fashion, rock music, design, spiritual world, quantum mechanics, and Buddhist thought became a starting point, and I became interested in modern society where diverse perspectives are visualized. Then, influenced by Cubism's multi-viewpoint expressions, we arrive at the theme of capturing the world and phenomena from multiple perspectives, choosing our own perspectives, and creating the real world. As an optimal expression for the theme, we created a unique technique called “drawing brilliance” using transparent paint on hologram material. This technique enables pictorial expressions that are “created by viewpoint,” that is to say, drastically changing the way you look at it depending on the point of view, and at the same time, it asks the viewer the importance of consciously choosing a point of view. I am also trying to create an intentional “empty” space within the work and visualize modern society that feels lacking due to informatization. Many everyday landscapes and plants are drawn as motifs from photographs taken by oneself, and a group of works using these hologram materials was named “Shining Special Things Series.” My image of the word “special” overlapped with the transformability that drastically changes expression depending on the light of the hologram material, and the transience of losing color depending on the situation. Additionally, memories of Bikkurimanseal, which was a social boom in my childhood, are connected as a longing for holograms. My creative activities were based on influences from Japanese comics, animation, and rock music where I was born and raised. In particular, themes such as “life and death” and “reincarnation” drawn in Tezuka Osamu's comic “The Firebird” are the starting point of thought in current creations. While searching for my own expression, I was also influenced by contemporary artists representing Japan, such as Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, and Yayoi Kusama, and was impressed by works by contemporary sculptors such as Björndahlem, Anish Kapoor, and James Turrell, and in the process where my own questions and ideas became themes of production, I became aware of the context of conceptual art in contemporary art, cubist thought, and the context of expression, depending on the point of view within the work I want to include changing margins, so I create semi-three-dimensional works and mixed media works. In the modern age where information continues to explode and expand at an accelerated rate, I believe that the sense of consciously controlling “how to select and grasp information” will help people live in a more ideal world. Furthermore, I continue to create so that “everyone continues to grow beyond their own boundaries” can be conveyed through works. The artist's name “Orecho” symbolizes the basic concept of production “the will to continue to challenge beyond one's own boundaries.”
